Thiago Silva to Chelsea move is getting ever closer. Latest reports suggest the deal is done with official announcement imminent.

The length of the deal is not yet clear as some reports said it’s a one year deal with an option to extend another year while others said it’s a complete two year deal.

Either way, ESPN pundit Craig Burley believes he’s a good signing for Chelsea.

“The guy can defend,” Burley told ESPN FC, cited by Metro.

“He’s just been part of a team that’s got to the Champions League final and lost to the best team on the planet at the moment in Bayern Munich.

“We’ve talked about the centre-half position, all the other guys are out there chasing the top players as well so you’ve got to get in there quick, make a decision, make an offer, sort that position out and worry about it in 12-18 months’ time about filling it again.”

The 35-year-old, who played all 90 minutes for PSG in their 1-0 UEFA Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich two days ago is expected to complete his move to Chelsea in the coming days.
