Chelsea are reportedly in talks with PSG’s Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva over a possible free transfer move this summer.
According to The Athletic’s report, talks are already in an advanced stage with few details including contract duration remain to be ironed out.
The 35-year-old is currently with the PSG squad, preparing for the UEFA Champions League final match against Bayern Munich on Sunday.
A few Chelsea fans have reservations about his age but while that’s fair, the Brazilian still looks like a fit man, starting 20 Ligue 1 matches, averaging 75 minutes per match.
He has also played total of 8 UEFA Champions League matches, averaging 90 minutes per match. Not bad for a 35-year-old, soon to be 36 years old in September.
Chelsea have completed the signing of highly-rated 18-year-old defender Xavier Mbayumba from Barcelona, so buying an experienced centre-back on a year or two year contract while the young ones mature sounds like a good idea.
