Chelsea reportedly made contact with the representatives of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen over a potential summer move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were looking for a goalkeeper to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga who has a below-par 2019/20 season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea made contact with his representatives but unsuccessfully tried to lure the German to London, forcing the Blues to shift focus to Rennes goalkeeper, Édouard Mendy.

Chelsea completed the signing of Mendy from Rennes for £22m while Ter Stegen is said to be close to signing a new €18m a year deal at Barcelona when he returns from injury.
