Chelsea are set to speed up their process of recruiting the Senegalese keeper Edouard Mendy for the upcoming season.

According to The Mirror, the blues are set to step up their efforts to land the 28-year-old after completing the £71m signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen few days ago.

Petr Cech, the Technical and Performance Director at Chelsea, is leading the negotiations for Mendy with Stade Rennais FC.

The first bid of 15 million euros was rejected by the French club last week. Chelsea have reportedly submitted a second bid worth 18 million euros.

Stade Rennais FC value Mendy at 30 million euros.
