Chelsea have reportedly tabled an offer for Ajax’s left-back Nicolás Tagliafico, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Chelsea are actively looking for a left-back to replace either Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri in the summer. Club manager Frank Lampard has shown little or no faith in the ability of both players.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with FC Porto’s Alex Telles, who is close to joining PSG, and Leicester City’s £70m rated left-back, Ben Chilwell. Both players look increasingly unlikely to join the blues in the summer with Chelsea clearly looking elsewhere for a solution.

Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico now claimed that the Stamford Bridge outfit has an offer on the table of Ajax’s left-back Nicolás Tagliafico who has permission from Ajax to leave.

“We are looking for a transfer for Tagliafico,” his agent, his agent Ricardo Schlieper said.

“We have agreed with Ajax that he would leave this year. After having spent two and a half seasons at the club, it’s the ideal moment for it.

“If football goes back to being normal, a transfer could be done for Tagliafico.

“There are clubs that are interested but we have to see how everything pans out with football and the pandemic.

“I will never mention the name of the club we are speaking with because it hurts the negotiations for us and the player.”
