Chelsea’s pursuit of Rennes Goalkeeper Édouard Mendy is already sounding like a broken drum, with different updates coming from different sources.
It was earlier reported by Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano as a done deal, awaiting medical and confirmation.

Romano’s claims was backed up by Canal+ journalist Paul Tchoukriel, who reported the deal as imminent and said both clubs have agreed a €22m deal plus €6m in bonuses.
However, another twist to the story arrived tonight courtesy of Telefoot journalist, Fabrice Hawkins who tweeted that both clubs are yet to agree a deal for the Senegalese star but stated that Mendy is still waiting for a go-ahead order from Rennes to travel to London.
Hawkins also suggested that the holdup in concluding the deal was as a result of Chelsea’s attempt to include Fikayo Tomori to the deal.
