Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is set to be without new signing Édouard Mendy for the Premier League game against Southampton this weekend.
The former Rennes star sustained a thigh injury on national team duty with Senegal a few days ago.
The 28-year-old flew back to London for more medical examination and treatment.
However, the injury doesn’t seem to be a bad one as the results showed there is no muscle strain.
According to The Athletic, early indications suggested it is a thigh problem, but it could actually be a hamstring strain.
Mendy then took to Instagram to assure the fans he would be back soon.
“Little hitch, I’m going to do everything I can to come back faster and stronger. Thank you all for your messages” he posted.
Mendy who kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace will likely miss the Southampton game, leaving Kepa and Caballero to fight for the starting shirt.
