Former Chelsea manager and Dutch legend Ruud Gullit said he’s not impressed with Hakim Ziyech on his Premier League debut and outlines what he needs to do in the Premier League.

Ziyech came back from injury to make his Premier League debut in Chelsea’s 3-3 draw against Southampton at Stamford Bridge but Gullit doesn’t rate his performance.

“Ziyech does want to take control of the game, but he also has to get used to the high tempo, and how he is now being tackled,” he told ZiggoSport.

“He thinks he can take the ball on the edge of the sixteen. No, you don’t get that time here, they are on top of you.”

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard shared his own opinion on Ziyech’s debut after the match.

“It’s hard, it’s hard because we are trying to find minutes for him,” he said.

“He’s not ready to start a game yet, he’s pretty open about that in how he feels.

“But with Premier League games it’s hard to make those sorts of judgments going into a game. He came on for his 20 minutes or so and think he showed his moments of class and calmness on the ball which you are going to see more of.

“But it’s unfortunate for us he comes on and obviously unfortunate for us he comes on and we don’t win the game.”

Lampard will certainly look to give Ziyech more game time when Chelsea face Sevilla in the Champions League.
