Michy Batshuayi is reportedly set to join Crystal Palace on loan next season.

According to a report from the Daily Mail – as confirmed by The Athletic – the Belgian striker has signed a new contract to ensure that the Blues don’t lose him for free next summer and will return to where he previously spent the second half of the 18/19 season on loan.

As a result, 20-year-old Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher will no longer head to Crystal Palace on loan as originally expected since the South London club only want one Chelsea loanee and prioritised a striker instead.

Several clubs in England’s top 2 divisions are now showing interest in taking Gallagher on loan following his successful spells at Charlton and Swansea last year, with West Brom currently the frontrunners.

With less than a week to go before Chelsea’s opening Premier League fixture, Frank Lampard is hoping to trim his squad and there are set to be further loan departures in the coming days.

One of these could be Fikayo Tomori, who is currently one of the 5 centre-backs in Chelsea’s first-team squad after the arrival of Thiago Silva and is reportedly closing in on a loan to Everton in search of more game time.
