Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed he set himself targets to achieve this season.

The 19-year-old had a slow start to the season but has come up strong in recent matches, leaving Chelsea manager Frank Lampard with tough decisions to make when Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are fully fit.

However, despite rejecting a move to Bayern Munich in the summer to embrace tough competitions for starting shirt, the England International set himself a tough target this season.

“I wanted to have a good start just so that, as the season’s going on, you feel more confident,” he said in Chelsea’s programme note for Southampton.

“I thought to myself that I need to score more goals, get more assists and I need to work hard for the team in general, just so we can win as many games as possible.

“It was an individual thing of saying to myself, ‘Give it your all in training, give it your all in matches and then, hopefully, the goals and assists will come as well.'”

Hudson-Odoi is likely to start for Chelsea against Southampton this weekend with Ziyech still searching for match fitness.
