Legendary former Arsenal star and pundit Ian Wright has hailed Chelsea’s new signing Timo Werner, comparing him to Premier League legend Alan Shearer.

Shearer is the most prolific goal scorer in Premier League history with 206 goals and Wright sees the same traits in Timo Werner.

“What makes him so good is his sharpness and he’s clinical,” he said on PLTV show.

“When you look at the way he is, you look at him, he knows he’s going to score. He’s got that kind of persona about him. He feels like ‘yeah, I am going to Chelsea, I am going to score goals and I am going to do very well.

“That’s why, if you look at Tammy and other guys, they need to kinda tap into how he thinks because when I watch him, I think he’s going to score. You watch him walk out, the look on his face says, ‘I am going to score and I am going to do my stuff’.

“He’s got it, the strikers’ vibe like Alan Shearer was like. He just looks like that. Teddy Sheringham, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, you look at those players, he’s got that”

Timo Werner join Chelsea from RB Leipzig this summer for £53million and signed a 5-year deal worth £170k-a-week.
