Chelsea are reportedly showing interest in a summer move for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Blues are said to be prioritising their proposed deal for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz while developments are also being made on Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, but it appears that their summer transfer business does not end there.

On the BR Football “Transfers in 20” show via Instagram Live, football insider Dean Jones claimed that Chelsea chief, Marina Granovskaia is currently in contact with Koulibaly’s agent.

“I think there’s something to bear in mind for Chelsea fans is that they’re trying to sign a lot of players right now,” Dean Jones revealed.

“[Havertz] is not the only deal they’re focusing on. [Marina] is also on the phone to Koulibaly’s agent, she’s on the phone to Ben Chilwell’s agent, she’s trying to find a midfielder, she’s got someone speaking to Declan Rice, they’re trying to find a goalkeeper – basically trying to sign half a team here!

“I mean it’s really difficult. Marina’s days must be really long at Chelsea right now, the amount of calls she’s got to get through.”

Manchester City have long been linked with a move for the central defender – even after signing Nathan Ake for £40m – but when asked about their approach he said that the Citizens were not making an “active pursuit” for him and that the situation will rest on what Chelsea do next.

With a whole host of names being linked with moves to Stamford Bridge in several different positions, although it is not clear which transfers will come into fruition.

The one thing that does remain clear is that Roman Abramovich is serious about upgrading Chelsea’s squad ahead of the new season and is prepared to back manager Frank Lampard after an impressive first year in charge.
