Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has revealed there were talks between Chelsea and London rival Arsenal over a summer move to the Emirates.

The Brazil-born Italy international was intensely linked with a move away from Chelsea during the summer transfer window with Arsenal or Juventus rumoured to be his likely destination.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wanted to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice which would have forced Jorginho out of the door at Stamford.

However, the deal failed to happen and Jorginho stayed at Chelsea.

“I believe there was something they talked about,” he told ESPN Brazil.

“And in the end, it was decided that I remain here. Now my head is here and we’re going to do a great job with Chelsea, which I always wanted to do.”

Despite falling out of favour last season, Jorginho has managed to regain his position this season, featuring in most Chelsea games alongside N’Golo Kante in defensive midfield.
