Chelsea announced the signing of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell today, making him the third first-team signing of the summer, following the arrival of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

The Blues are also expected to announce the capture of PSG captain Thiago Silva and Bayer Leverkusen’s golden boy Kai Havertz in the coming days.

This is happening in a period when most Premier League teams are battling to financially stay afloat due to the effects of Covid-19 outbreak worldwide.

Premier League champions Liverpool felt the heat as they had the opportunity to sign Timo Werner before he moved to Chelsea. Their manager Jurgen Klopp talked about the situation in an interview with Servus TV.

“There are a lot of interesting players out there, “e said in the interview, picked up by Shoot.

“but if someone is interesting for us I can’t say right now. Due to Covid-19 you have to think five times about what you can and what you can’t do.

“We always have to pay attention to the financial aspect. We don’t know how much money will come in.

“Nobody knows but it seems like some other teams have a more positive outlook on the future… if you look at Chelsea for example [laughs].

“But I am very happy with my team right now. If something transfer related will happen we have to see.”

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Spain International Thiago Alcântara who is set to leave Champions League winners Bayern Munich this summer. He could become their second signing of the summer.
