Frank Lampard has backed Kai Havertz to become one of the best players at Chelsea and asked for the star to be given time before judging his performance, as some of the best players took time to settle in the Premier League.

The German star who moved to Chelsea in the summer transfer window after his best season at Bayer Leverkusen, has received criticism from various fans and pundits who put have started doubting him due to his current form and massive transfer fee.

Lampard also added that the midfielder could not only be one of the best players at Chelsea, but also in the world.

Despite having a rough start of his career at Chelsea after having to stay out for a couple of weeks due to COVID-19, Kai Havertz has four goals and four assists in 14 appearances in all competitions this season, which is not bad for a youngster who is still settling to life in London.

The criticism for the German star comes at a time where there is stiff competition for playing time from his teammates Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount, which seems to be a good thing for the manager as he can rotate the players in the tight December schedule, which can prevent fatigue-related injuries.
