Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed what he expects from new signing Kai Havertz and how he intends to use him in future.
The 21-year-old has been criticised by fans and pundits for his unimpressed performance since the start of the season but Lampard knows why the youngster is having a difficult time.
As he explained to the media during his press conference this afternoon.
“Kai has played various positions in career, as number nine, number eight and a number 10,” Lampard said.
“He played lots off the right for Leverkusen and I have my own vision going forward.
“The key now is getting him fit. Kai, with the situation we are in we aren’t in a position where we can wait. We need to get him fit, and it’ll become very clear why he’s here.”
Chelsea signed Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal reportedly worth in the region of £72m (€80m).
