Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has hailed the performance of new signing Ben Chilwell in Chelsea’s penalty shootout defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
The left-back made his first start in a Chelsea shirt and produced an impressive performance to the delight of Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
“I think we saw some of the qualities Ben will bring us in the game against Tottenham,” he told Chelsea.com.
“Very good performance from him in terms of joining in and going forward. I think he is very comfortable on the ball. He covers a lot of ground, high intensity and joining in with attacks.
“He also defends well, I think he showed both sides of his game against Tottenham especially considering the nasty injury he had which he worked very hard to overcome.
“Obviously, it was a very good start from him and we will see a lot of that”
Chilwell is likely to be in Chelsea’s starting XI this afternoon when the Blues face Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
