One of Chelsea’s summer arrivals Hakim Ziyech has been in top form this season, scoring two goals in his first two starts for Chelsea this season.

The Moroccan has slotted in perfectly on the right side of Chelsea’s attack, forming a great partnership with right-back Reece James who is also in fine form.

During his press conference this afternoon, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard pointed out keys reasons why he signed Ziyech.

“Part of my thinking when Hakim Ziyech comes to the club is the balance of the sides of the pitch which is very important for us,’ he said, as quoted by the club website.

“We knew Reece’s quality last year in terms of crossing the ball and when you can have a winger in front of him that offers different angles and combinations on that side to put balls into the box, then it can be a big strength of ours.

“At the moment we are getting praise for the sides of the pitch but as we move forward we can get better at it in terms of our execution and finishing in the box as well, but it is something I am happy with and we want to keep working on it.”

It’s hardly a surprise that he has hit the ground running as some journalists who cover the Dutch league predicted.

One of the Dutch journalists, Marcel van der Kraan told Sky Sports in February that Ziyech would be a success story at Chelsea.

“He is vital for that team (Ajax). He has been absolutely turning the stadium upside down in certain games,” he said.

“His skills and technique are brilliant. His left foot is fantastic. He has scored cracking goals, [supplied] great assists his figures speaks for themselves.

“I am sure he will carry on doing this at Stamford Bridge.”

Chelsea announced the signing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax on a 5-year deal for £33.3m in February 2020 but the 28-year-old linked up with Chelsea squad in June.
