Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell is not yet close to joining Chelsea contrary to some reports in the media lately.

The 23-year-old was rumoured to have packed his bags at Leicester City while some said he has already had his medicals outside the UK.

However, according to Mail on Sunday sports reporter and former Leicester Mercury correspondent, James Sharpe, the two clubs are still in deep discussion over the transfer of the England international to Stamford Bridge.

“From what I am gathering, there are conversations happening and there are talks between the two clubs,” he told TBS YouTube channel.

“I am aware that things can escalate quite quickly but at the minute, Leicester City see Ben Chilwell as their player. I am not aware of any medical any time soon”

Leicester City are reportedly asking for £70m for the left-back, James thinks he’s worth that much if Chelsea think so.

“It doesn’t really matter what people think Ben Chilwell is worth,” he continued.

“The main thing is what Leicester City believe to be his worth and what Chelsea are willing to pay for him. It’s as simple as that.

“Leicester City know they have an English player who is under contract until 2014, they know they are in a position of power, they know they don’t need to sell him if they don’t want to.

“They will only consider selling Ben Chilwell if they receive a really big offer.”

Leicester City are tough negotiators, having sold Mahrez to Manchester City for £60m, and Maguire to Manchester United for £80m, a deal to sign Chilwell won’t be easy but the blues are hopeful they can close the deal before the start of next season.
