The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has shed more light on Arsenal’s reported interest in Chelsea star Jorginho.
The midfielder was linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the summer but Chelsea refused to entertain any transfer talk.
The blues unsuccessfully tried to sign West Ham Declan Rice which could have opened the door for Jorginho to leave, probably not to Arsenal.
As Ornstein revealed that Chelsea were never ready to sell Jorginho to Arsenal.
“Arsenal did explore the possibility of signing Jorginho from Chelsea,” he said.
“But I don’t think that was realistic. I don’t think Chelsea were ever likely to want to strengthen Arsenal and I’m not sure he was available, full stop.”
The 28-year-old has been a huge part of Chelsea’s first team this season, scoring 3 goals plus one assist in three Premier League games so far.
