Chelsea’s Antonio Rüdiger is expected to leave the club after being left out of Chelsea’s first games of the season.

Chelsea at the moment have 5 central defenders in the first team, namely Rüdiger, Christensen, Tomori, Zouma & Silva. Malang Sarr is not considered as a first-team player yet and is expected to be loaned out.

According to Telegraph, Rüdiger will seek an exit from the club as he is not in Lampard’s plans. The report also stated that Rüdiger has been left out of the Chelsea squad facing Barnsley.

The 27-year-old has dropped further down the pecking order with the club’s other 4 centre-backs ahead of him, one of them being England International Fikayo Tomori. It was thought the 22-year-old was about to leave on loan against his wishes when he wanted to fight for his place at Chelsea but now with Rüdiger forcing an exit that might not be the case.

As stated by Fabrizio Romano via the London is blue podcast, one of Rüdiger or Tomori may leave the club and Chelsea would like Rüdiger to leave rather than Tomori.

As per various sources, Tomori has a lot of clubs wanting to take him on loan but there are not that many suitors for the German international. PSG, however, are one of the few clubs interested in Rüdiger and would like an initial loan deal with a buy option.

As the days pass it is becoming quite clear Rüdiger will leave the club before the transfer window ends.
