Chelsea’s new signing Thiago Silva has revealed his main duty at Chelsea and his relationship with the playing staff.
The former PSG captain joined Chelsea in the summer and was made the team’s captain on his Premier League debut against West Brom last week.
The 36-year-old admits he has a huge part to play in raising Chelsea’s young squad.
“It is natural to gravitate towards the people who you can communicate with,” Silva told France Football, as quoted by Get French Football.
“I have therefore become close with Jorginho, Emerson too and the French guys, of course. There is also Azpilicueta who is helping me a lot. It is important to have a few reference points to accelerate the integration process.
“In terms of PSG, this is a different type of squad, for sure. They are all very young and I am also here to give them some direction for the future. I am very happy to hold this new role.”
Despite making a mistake that led to a goal, Silva had a good game on his Chelsea debut and will hope to continue tonight when Chelsea face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
