Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, with the blues current number one, Kepa Arrizabalaga likely to leave Stamford Bridge on loan or permanently this summer.

However, Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano believes Chelsea stand no chance of buying the Slovenia international this summer.

“There are many rumours about him, about Chelsea in particular because Chelsea are looking to sign a new goalkeeper,” Fabrizio told CBS Sports.

“They are looking at Oblak but at the moment there is no chance to sign him because a year ago, Atletico Madrid extended his contract for three more years and inserted a release of €120m.

“That’s the price to sign and Chelsea are not going to spend this money on Jan Oblak. At the moment, Chelsea are focused on signing Kai Harvertz”

Earlier today, Spanish publication, AS released an exclusive interview with Jan Oblak, and the 27-year-old goalkeeper was asked about interest from Chelsea.

He answered: “It’s not the time to talk about that, right now we’ve got Leipzig to think about. I’ll assess the season when it’s over and hopefully, we’ve got three games left. There’ll be time after that to talk.”

The fact that Oblak didn’t rule it out means nothing is decided and Chelsea have a chance to negotiate. It’s difficult to tell at the moment but the picture will be clearer once Atletico Madrid finish their Champions League campaign.
