Vitória Guimarães have confirmed they have completed the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Nicolas Tié for an undisclosed fee.
The 19-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Portuguese club, according to Portuguese publication, Record.
The French goalkeeper joined Chelsea Academy in July 2017 and signed a first professional contract at the club in July 2018, a three-year deal that expires at the end of 2020/21.
However, a series of niggling injuries restricted him to just a handful of outings in his second season at the club and there were four outings for the keeper during the 2019/20 season.
Despite breaking into Chelsea’s Champions League ‘B’ list squad in February as a fourth-choice goalkeeper, the 19-year-old Lille-born star was not seen as a potential starter for Chelsea’s first team.
With his Chelsea contract set to expire next year, a permanent exit is definitely the best decision for Chelsea and the youngster.
