Chelsea striker Timo Werner reportedly snubbed Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge.
According to German publication, Bild, Werner was on top of Pep Guardiola’s list even though he was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
Chelsea were not in the picture for the German striker but acted swiftly to snatch him from their rivals. Manager, Frank Lampard and Sporting adviser Petr Cech were said to have travelled to Germany to meet Werner and left a huge impression on the youngster.
Chelsea activated the 24-year-old’s release clause of £54m at RB Leipzig and signed a 5-year contract worth around £170,000-a-week.
