Chelsea striker Timo has confessed he thought Chelsea’s heavy defeats to Bayern Munich in the Champions league’s round of 16 before joining the club.

The Blues lost 0-3 at home and 1-4 away. Werner admitted it was a worry but knew the club was going to fix the obvious problem and that’s why he joined regardless.

“I would be lying if I said it wasn’t like that. The 3-0 home defeat of Chelsea in the first leg against Bayern didn’t exactly speak in favour of going to London,” Werner told CF Bayern.

“I have to say that openly because with Leipzig we always played very good and close games against Bayern.

“By showing Chelsea the weak points, the club was able to work on the pieces of the puzzle in order to catch up with the future Champions-League-Winner FC Bayern. That’s what Chelsea did.”

Chelsea signed Timo Werner this summer from Leipzig on a five-year contract for £45m.
